Crispy Homemade Sourdough Poori

If you have extra sourdough starter at home, this recipe is a must-try! These pooris turn out super crispy, beautifully puffed, and have a light tangy flavor that makes them extra delicious 😍

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour or wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup active sourdough starter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Warm water as needed
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, sugar, and sourdough starter.
  2. Gradually add warm water and knead into a medium-soft dough.
  3. Add 1 tbsp oil and knead again until smooth.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rest for 4–6 hours, or refrigerate overnight.
  5. Divide into small dough balls and roll them out evenly.
  6. Fry in hot oil until the pooris puff up and turn light golden.
  7. Serve hot with potato curry, chutney, or a cup of chai 😋
