Crusty Sourdough Sandwich Loaf

A perfectly golden sourdough loaf with a crispy crust and soft airy crumb — baked beautifully in a loaf pan!

Ingredients

  • 500g bread flour
  • 350g water
  • 100g active sourdough starter
  • 10g salt

Instructions

1. Mix the Dough

In a large bowl, mix flour and water until combined. Let it rest for 30 minutes.

2. Add Starter & Salt

Add the sourdough starter and salt. Mix well until the dough becomes smooth.

3. Stretch & Fold

Do 3–4 sets of stretch and folds every 30 minutes over 2 hours.

4. Bulk Fermentation

Cover the dough and let it rise at room temperature for 4–6 hours until puffy.

5. Shape the Dough

Shape the dough into a tight loaf and place it into a greased loaf pan.

6. Final Proof

Cover and proof for 1–2 hours at room temperature or overnight in the fridge.

7. Bake

Preheat oven to 230°C (450°F).
Bake for:

  • 20 minutes covered
  • 20–25 minutes uncovered until deep golden brown.

8. Cool & Enjoy

Let the bread cool completely before slicing.
