Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 tbsp fresh rosemary
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme
- 1 tbsp parsley (optional)
- Extra olive oil for brushing
Instructions
1. Make the Dough
In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
Add warm water and olive oil. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
2. Add Herbs & Garlic
Fold in minced garlic, rosemary, thyme, and parsley.
Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
3. First Rise
Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for 1–2 hours until doubled in size.
4. Shape the Bread
Place dough on a floured surface and shape into a round loaf.
5. Second Rise
Transfer to a baking tray or Dutch oven.
Cover and rest for 30 minutes.
6. Bake
Brush with olive oil and sprinkle extra herbs on top.
Bake at 220°C (425°F) for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
7. Cool & Serve
Let the bread cool slightly before slicing.
Serve warm with butter, soup, or pasta.
Tips
- For extra flavor, roast the garlic before adding it.
- A Dutch oven gives a crispy bakery-style crust.
- Add mozzarella or parmesan for cheesy herb bread.
